Our early help offer for families in Bromley
Early Intervention and Family Support Service (EIFS)
We offer a range of services within one team, as well as linking with other agencies such as Health Visitors, which makes it easier for families to be supported by the right people as early as possible.
In Bromley, our early help is known as Early Intervention and Family Support (EIFS) services and includes:
Bromley Children Project – targeted one-2-one family support
The Bromley Children Project (BCP) is a borough wide service that supports families living in Bromley to create a safe, secure and happy environment for all children, by reaching out to expectant parents, current parents and carers, and young people aged up to 18 years; particularly those who are struggling and are in need of additional help.
The BCP is linked to all Children and Family Centres, and works with private, voluntary and independent Early Years providers in the borough.
The BCP are here to offer you friendly, non-judgemental 1:1 family support, helping you as the parent/ carer to effect positive change in your children.
Parenting offer
A wide range of free courses and seminars, online and face to face, designed to support every parent and carer.
Children and Family Centres
Children and Family Centres offer a range of services to meet the needs of children under five and support their families. There are six children and family centres in Bromley and the services provided are designed around the needs of the surrounding area.
The centres are places where children can make friends and learn as they play. Parents and carers can access professional advice on health and family matters, learn about training and job opportunities or just socialise with other people.
Information advice and support service (IASS)
The information, advice and support service (IASS) offers free, impartial information, advice and support in confidence for:
- Children and young people with special educational needs or disabilities age 0 to 25.
- Parents and carers of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
- Children and young people with SEND around transitions from pre-school to primary school, onto secondary school and college, etc.
Social Communication and ASD family support coordinator
The Social Communication Needs (inc Autism) Family Support Service provides information and advice to parents and carers of children with social communication needs. This service is referred to as ‘SCAN’ and helps parents and carers to navigate the support options available in Bromley and nationally.
The SCAN service informs families of the accessible and supportive universal, targeted, and specialist provision available so that families can feel supported at home, in education, and in their community.
We offer a range of early help to build confidence and resilience within families – to support them to tackle all kinds of problems and make the changes they need to make. Our aim is to offer the right help to as many children and families as possible at the earliest opportunity; we will support families to face challenges and make changes so that they feel more positive, in control of their situation, and have a happier family life.
Families tell us that the support received from our services helped to prevent problems escalating and becoming harder to manage. Many families tell us that they find this support invaluable as it helps them to keep their children safe and healthy, and reduces the likelihood of being referred to children’s social care due to increased risk and concern.
